A state-of-art search experience for the leading network virtualization platform

VMware NSX delivers a complete networking and security virtualization platform, allowing users to manage, enforce policies, automate, and deploy entire networks from a single pane of glass.

I was the lead designer in charge of creating the search experience and a series of reporting dashboards for this new product. The interface allows users to build complex queries using natural language, manage millions of network components, monitor their performance, precisely identify problems, and take remedial and preventive actions to ensure the health of their data center.

My responsibilities:

• Working with product managers and stakeholders to get a clear definition of the personas, the problems we wanted to solve and the opportunities ahead.
• Interviewing users to identify pain points in their workflows.
• Low and high-resolution prototyping, using VMware's design system and guidelines.
• Collaborating with the design system team to expand existing patterns and create patterns for unique requirements in our product.
• Conducting user studies to validate the concept and test design iterations at different stages.
• Handing off designs and continuing to refine and iterate based on user feedback.
• Working closely with our Product Marketing and Customer Support teams to create communication plans and documentation in preparation for launch.
